Reality-TV fans in Nashville and throughout the state where shocked to hear of the recent drunk driving accident death of MTV star Ryan Dunn. Dunn was known for performing outrageous stunts on the show "Jackass" and appeared in three feature length "Jackass" movies as well as other TV shows such as "Viva la Bam." Dunn and a passenger died in a fiery car accident in rural Pennsylvania.
Reports indicate that speed and alcohol use were contributing factors to this unfortunate car accident. Dunn was driving at speeds near 130 mph when his Porsche struck a rail, flew through a field of trees, and slammed into one of the trees. The vehicle burst into flames upon hitting the tree and a county coroner was unable to determine whether Dunn and his 30-year-old passenger died from blunt force trauma or the ensuing fire in this extreme accident which destroyed the car according to authorities.
"I've never seen a car destroyed in an automobile accident the way this car was, even before it caught on fire," West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll said. "The automobile actually came apart. It was unbelievable and I've been on a lot of fatal accident scenes. This was by far the worst I've ever seen."
Dunn posted a picture of himself drinking to the social networking site Twitter shortly before his death. Subsequent toxicology test results indicated that his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. Dunn had a history of drunk driving and car accidents and hopefully his death will encourage his young fans in Nashville to avoid drinking while driving.
