5 Tennessee residents involved in multi-vehicle wreck

Accidents can have a domino effect. All it takes is one falling piece and a chain reaction can be triggered. What starts as a simple fender bender can evolve into a large-scale wreck, involving multiple vehicles, myriad injuries and financial costs that pile up higher and higher. When this chain reaction is triggered by the negligent actions of another driver, victims can oftentimes build strong cases that allow them to fight for compensation from the negligent driver.

A recent accident involved four vehicles and five Tennessee residents, according to reports. On a Sunday morning, a teenage crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic. Other drivers reacted to this and a domino effect was triggered, eventually resulting in a four-vehicle wreck.

After the 18-year-old swerved over the center line, he crossed in front of the path of a pickup truck occupied by a 27-year-old Tennessee man, who was driving, and a 30-year-old passenger. The 27-year-old driver swerved off of the highway in order to avoid the imminent head-on collision. He then attempted to drive back onto the highway by crossing the westbound lane, which caused the pickup truck to collide with two other vehicles.

As a result of the accident, two victims had to be transported via a medical helicopter to a nearby hospital. Four other victims were transported by ground. The 18-year-old driver was charged with failure to exercise due care, leaving the scene of an injury crash and failure to render care.

All drivers are expected to exercise due care -- that is, exercise the amount of care necessary to prevent a car accident. When they fail to do so, drivers may be found negligent. In these cases, victims can often seek compensation for the costs associated with accident damages.
