Suspect arrested after fatal hit-and-run crash in Tennessee

In an instant, a car accident can claim a loved one's life. The trauma can be even worse when a family member is present in the accident. There are few events in life more devastating and traumatic than being in an accident and losing a loved one all in the same day. When these accidents are the result of another driver's recklessness, victims have every right to be outraged. They also have legal rights that should be protected.

A 13-year-old boy was killed recently in a Tennessee car accident. The boy was helping to change a flat tire while his mother and sister were standing by the car. A photograph shows the boy fixing the tire just moments before a vehicle swerved onto the side of the road, hitting both the boy and his mother. The mother and the boy were transported to the hospital, where the boy eventually died. The driver of the other vehicle drove away, rendering the crash a hit-and-run accident.

One police officer said that the accident could and should have been avoided. The driver of the other vehicle, a 33-year-old woman, was charged with failure to give immediate notification of a fatal crash and leaving the scene of the accident. In addition, a DUI charge was filed against her. The 33-year-old woman was taken into custody after a good Samaritan helped to track her down.

Following hit-and-run car accidents, it is often possible to track down the negligent driver and take legal action. Legal action can help victims obtain compensation that can help them bear the financial burdens that often come with medical expenses and other damage costs. Compensation will never erase the horrible tragedies that these victims have been forced to suffer, but it can alleviate their financial worries so they can focus on healing emotionally.
