Tennessee motorcycle accident results in woman's death

Motorcycles are not always the safest vehicles. There are many design features that put motorcycle riders at a disadvantage on the road. Perhaps the biggest disadvantage of motorcycles are their size. Because of their small frames, motorcycles are less protected and also less visible than other vehicles. This increases the likelihood of crashes occurring -- other drivers are less likely to see them -- and also increases the chances of severe or fatal injuries occurring, as the riders are largely unprotected.

Tragically, a woman was killed in a recent motorcycle accident in Tennessee. The crash involved the motorcycle and three other vehicles. The woman, 52, was riding passenger on a motorcycle. Her husband was driving. As the husband and wife were pulling out of their private driveway, an Oldsmobile heading east struck the motorcycle. After both the husband and the wife were thrown from their motorcycle, two cars crashed into the rear of the Oldsmobile.

As a result of the motorcycle crash, the 52-year-old woman tragically died at a nearby hospital. The husband driver was also transported to the hospital, but he thankfully survived the accident. He was treated for injuries that were said to be non-life-threatening. No one else involved suffered injuries and no evidence of alcohol use had been uncovered.

Drivers are expected to be acutely aware of their surroundings. Therefore, they must be on the lookout for motorcycles and other smaller vehicles. When they neglect to see a motorcycle and cause an accident, they may be liable for the damages.

After a fatal motorcycle accident, the loved ones of victims may wish to take legal action against the negligent party. Legal action can sometimes help the loved ones of victims obtain monetary compensation that can alleviate some of the financial burden resulting from a crash.
