Two-car crash in Nashville kills 1 and injures 4

The worst part about a car accident, other than the devastating affects it could have, is the fact that it could happen at any time. When faced with a negligent driver, drivers or passengers can be injured or killed when they are on their way to work, school or even the store. Even worse, it could only take a small for or negligence or a simple distraction to cause a tragic automobile collision, affecting numerous lives.

Following a two-vehicle collision, the Metro Nashville Police Department was dispatched to the accident site. According to preliminary reports, the accident involved an automobile and a small SUV that were both traveling on Bell Road. Authorities believe that the car rear-ended the back of the SUV that was waiting to turn onto Old Hickory Boulevard.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they assessed everyone involved. Reports indicate that the automobile contained an elderly couple and a woman traveling with her two grandchildren drove the SUV. Everyone involved in the automobile collision suffered injuries and were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The elderly woman, who was a passenger in the automobile, suffered serious injuries and died later at the hospital. All others were reported to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

It is not clear at this time what caused the accident, but in cases of a rear-end accident, the driver that crashes into the back of another vehicle is often found negligent. Further investigation will make the cause and liability clearer.

Once investigation is complete, the injured parties could seek compensation against the driver at fault. This usually takes form of a personal injury claim. This civil action could result in a monetary award that could help cover expenses such as medical bills, lost wages and other related damages.

Following an automobile collision, it is important to understand the details of the incident and the injuries that followed. This could help them with a civil action, if they decide to file one. Those injured in a crash should understand their legal remedies so they can take appropriate action.
