6 fingertip amputations tied to defect in Graco strollers

Nashville is a beautiful city, and many young couples enjoy the scenery by taking walks together with their children, pushing them along in strollers. Should it be discovered that these strollers have design and manufacturing defects that put children's safety at risk, parents who regularly use these products understandably want the issue addressed immediately.

Six fingertip amputation injuries have been linked to a defect in 11 models of Graco strollers. Four other cases involving partial amputations have also been reported. These injuries were caused by a defect in the hinges on the strollers' sides, which pinched the fingers of the children riding them. Reports do not indicate whether any of the fingertips could be surgically reattached, or whether any of the families have filed lawsuits against the strollers' manufacturer.

Consumers can contact Graco to receive a repair kit for their strollers. Because the kits will not be available until December, consumers are being asked to use care when opening affected strollers.

There are approximately 4.7 million affected units in the United States, and the recall is also being conducted in Canada and Mexico. The strollers were sold at various national retail stores, including Target, Walmart and Toys R Us.

Dangerous products that risk the safety of children are of especial concern to the public, and those whose children have been placed in danger due to a design or manufacturing defect often seek to hold responsible parties accountable. If you are in such a situation, you may want to have your case assessed by an attorney.
