Construction site injuries aren't inevitable

Construction workers spend their days in some of the most dangerous jobs and work sites there are. However, that doesn't mean that injuries are inevitable. Employers and contractors have a responsibility both morally and legally to provide required safety gear, adhere to designated safety practices and work to ensure that tools and equipment are functioning properly.

Some of the most common construction site injuries are:

-- Falls-- Equipment-related accidents-- Backovers and "crushed-betweens"-- Explosions and fires-- Building and trench collapses

Sadly, these injuries can be fatal.

Construction workers can also fall victim to illnesses caused by an unsafe work environment. These include heat stress, lead poisoning and respiratory conditions.

At Bart Durham Injury Law, we know that Tennessee workers are sometimes reluctant to report injuries or to take action against an employer for fear of retaliation or losing their jobs. Many people think that they have no chance going up against a large construction company or contractor. However, when those who operate construction sites fail to do so in a safe manner and a worker is injured as a result, they can and should be held legally responsible.

Our construction site accident attorneys work with victims and surviving family members to seek justice and compensation. We fully investigate the cause(s) of the accident and determine who can and should be held liable. It could be a site manager, contractor, construction company, equipment manufacturer or any combination of those. If a worker was killed, a wrongful death suit may be a possibility.
