What are the most common types of auto defects?

When you purchase a vehicle, you hope that it'll treat you well for many years to come. Unfortunately, there are times when an auto defect jeopardizes the safety of the driver, passengers, and others on the road at the same time.

A safety related auto defect is one that:

-- Poses a risk to a person's safety.

-- Exists in a large group of automobiles from the same manufacturer or with the same design.

As you know, there are many parts that make up an automobile. Additionally, there is more than meets the eye. For this reason, it's possible that one of thousands of parts could be considered a safety hazard.

Some of the most common types of auto defects include:

-- Accelerator that sticks, making it impossible to stop the vehicle.

-- Airbags that do not deploy as intended in an accident.

-- Steering components that make it a challenge to control the vehicle.

-- Windshield wipers that fail to operate as designed.

-- Electrical system that causes a fire.

-- Seat back or seatbelt that does not work as intended during normal use.

As a driver, you may never think twice about these potential auto defects. Unfortunately, it's possible that one of these could impact you while you're behind the wheel.

If you're injured by a defective automobile, don't wait to receive medical attention. From there, you can learn more about your legal rights. You may soon find that you are not the only person to have been injured in the same type of accident, due to a defect.
